GCSE students celebrate success and plan exciting next steps

Tupton Hall School’s class of 2024 eagerly awaited their GCSE results at Tupton Hall School, part of Redhill Academy Trust.

Headteacher Mr Andrew Knowles commented: “We are pleased that so many of our students have the platform to now progress to the next stage of their lives. All of our students should be congratulated for their resilience, hard work and achievements, not just over the last two years, but also in earlier years whilst managing the impact of the pandemic on their education. I am thankful to the staff, parents and families who have supported them and on behalf of the school community we wish them future success.”

Max Taylor plans to attend Tupton Hall Sixth Form to study Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and Further Maths. His incredible grades; 7 grade 9s, 2 grade 8s, 1 grade 7 and, 1 grade 6, have taken him a step closer to his dream of being a Thermodynamics engineer. He said; “I was inspired by the Maths and Music faculties to study in-depth. Teachers provided good resources, encouragement and specialised aid. I was the only Year 11 to study Further Mathematics and so I felt that the exposure to the A Level curriculum content was tailored to me. The library also massively helped my studies.”

Ethan Hall has been awarded a fantastic set of results; 1 grade 9, 4 grade 8s, 3 grade 7s and 2 grade 5s. When asked about his future plans, Ethan spoke on his dream to become a Palaeontologist. He added; “Tupton has such a welcoming environment. I enjoyed the social aspects and had good supportive teachers.”

Amelia Murgatroyd earned herself an array of brilliant results; 2 grade 8s, 6 grade 7s and 1 grade 6. Amelia plans to study Film, Media, Drama and Ethics and Philosophy at Tupton Hall Sixth Form. Amelia said: “I’d like to go to University to study something related to Film. My dream job is to be a director. Tupton has good teachers who have helped me get involved in school productions, something I’ve done since Year 7, performing in We Will Rock You, Grease, Little Shop of Horrors and Bugsy Malone. They were all great opportunities with plenty of other extra-curricular offers.”

Kayleigh Maggs earned 1 grade 9, 1 grade 8, 3 grade 7s, 3 grade 6s and 2 grade 5s. She aspires to become an Architect in the future, and will work towards this goal by studying Art, Physics, Core Mathematics and Product Design at Tupton Hall Sixth Form. She commented; “Teachers have given me lots of guidance; it’s an all-around supportive community. The revision sessions were really helpful and the curriculum is really varied which is great as there’s something for everyone.”

Logan Bargh will be studying Core Mathematics, Biology, Business and PE at Tupton Hall Sixth Form. When asked about his success, Logan commented; “After school revision clubs really boosted my knowledge in science. I think it’s part of the reason I got an 8. I’d like to be a Physiotherapist or an Accountant in the long term, which is part of the reason I chose to go to Sixth Form next year; there were lots of subjects to choose from.” When asked to reflect on his time at Tupton Hall School, he said; “I also used to play in the school’s football team which I enjoyed alongside the social aspect of school.”

Jake Fletcher aims to become a Veterinarian. Extremely happy with his grades; 1 grade 9, 3 grade 8s, 5 grade 7s, he hopes to attend University after Sixth Form to get one step closer to his dream, with his sights on the University of Cambridge. He said; “the teachers have been so supportive and there’s a friendly atmosphere with lots of subject choices.”

Teddi Jackson will study A Levels at Tupton Hall Sixth Form next year - a decision she credited to the wide choice of subjects on offer. She will study Maths, Ethics and Philosophy, English Language and Psychology with a view to studying at St Andrews University in the future. When asked how Tupton Hall has helped her to achieve her fantastic set of results, she said; “the teachers have been great, my maths teacher was particularly encouraging and I think he’s a huge part of the reason I got a ‘9’. The revision sessions were excellent and I was also able to study Statistics which will help me in A Level Maths.”

Freya Morrell also plans to study A Levels in Sociology, History and Music. She achieved an impressive 1 grade 8, 3 grade 7s and 6 grade 6s at GCSE and looks forward to beginning her Sixth Form career, which she described as “a step in the right direction.” Freya has ambitions to become a teacher in the future and has been inspired by the extra revision sessions on offer to students. She said: “Teachers have been so supportive. I also did the Duke of Edinburgh award and plan to continue onto Gold next year. I’d definitely recommend doing it; I’ve enjoyed everything about my time at Tupton!”
